About

What Dialogue app is, who builds it, and why conversation quality comes before everything else.

Dialogue app started from a small observation: most chat products answer questions well and hold conversations badly. An answer ends. A conversation continues, circles back, and picks up a detail from three days ago. We wanted the second thing.

What we build

We write characters the way a novelist writes them, one at a time. Each has an origin, a temperament, a sense of humour and a set of subjects she genuinely gravitates towards. Nothing is assembled from a menu of traits, which is why Solveig and Nayeli sound nothing alike even when you ask them the same thing.

The portraits are produced for the project. The biographies are invented. No character on Dialogue app represents a real person, and we do not use the likeness or name of any public figure.

How we think about quality

A good conversation has three properties: it remembers, it responds to what you actually said, and it has a recognisable voice. We measure ourselves against those three and nothing else. Volume of features is not the goal.

Who it is for

People who want company in the evening. People who write stories and want a partner who stays in scene. People who talk better in text than out loud. It is deliberately not a productivity tool.

Responsibility

Dialogue app is for adults. Conversations are private to your session, characters are clearly fictional, and we are direct about that everywhere on the site rather than in a footnote.
